Body Masks for Eczema

In this section I will tell you about body masks.  If you have dry or wet eczema, you will find great relief in using these once a week.

The first Mask is a Clay, Oatmeal and Honey Body Mask.

Green Clay Paste

You will need 1 cup of green or yellow Argiletz clay, 1 cup of oatmeal (freshly ground) and 2 tablespoons of honey.  Put these ingredients in a thick glass bowl. You will also need enough water to make the above ingredients into a gloopy paste – not too thick but not runny either. 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil can be added to the clay mixture.

Smear the mixture all over your body including the parts with eczema.  Let it semi-dry.  The rinse off with lukewarm water.

As this is rather messy, you will need to do all of this in your bath.

The clay body mask is very good for healing your body from scars and helps it heal faster.  It also absorbs toxins from your skin, yet feeds it with minerals.

I also use a simple clay, water, oil paste for cuts and bruises – even cold sores!

This is kind to the most sensitive of skins.

Oatmeal and olive oil mask

This mask has just three ingredients – 1/2 a cup of green Argiletz clay, 2 tbsp of olive olive oil and 2 tbsp of water.

Method:

  1. Mix the clay with water and olive oil until it is a slightly thick paste. Use a wooden or plastic spoon.
  2. Paint your body parts with the eczema on with the paste.
  3. When almost dry, rinse off with lukewarm water.

Where You Can Get Argiletz clay

In the past, health food shops used to stock this clay.  Now it only seems to be available on Amazon.  Go check it out!

If you find a clay mask too drying – do this

Use Moor Mud instead of the clay.  You can find moor mud online. I use Moorspa brand.  They are based in Uckfield, UK.

When using moor mud, you don’t need to mix it with other ingredients.  It works well on its own.

If you have any questions or comments you would like to make, please put them below.

  • Hello Stella, I’ve found that messy masks seem to be the best with skin just like the first mask. I see that it helps your body with scars, can this be related to healing acne scars or dark places on your face? I’m sure if it helps Eczema then it would help with acne issues. Best of Luck, Rachel

    • Yes Rachel,

You can use white Argiletz clay for facial masks to treat acne.  It is especially gentle yet powerful.  Add a few drops of olive oil though as it can be very drying.

  • I suffered from terrible eczema as a teenager on my left inside leg for about two years – I really wish I had been introduced to a natural solution like this back then.

Instead I was forced to use a nasty steroid cream that actually burned my skin, and it took a further two years for that scarring to disappear!

Would you say this kind of body mask could act as an alternative to these nasty creams?

    • Hi Chris,

Yes, a clay mask used repeatedly will definitely be more soothing and clear an eczema patch of scars.  I am living proof.

I had a bad case of wet eczema on my left leg that did not want to disappear.  I mention it in my article.  To cut a long story short, my leg healed up without a scar and I do not limp on it anymore.

I was allergic to steroid creams so did not use them.

  • Hello Stella,

Love your article and I know it will help me to solve the eczema problem on those days when it comes and make my days a little harder.

I was looking for something to do on those moments and I think I will try the clay, oatmeal and honey, I have a question, how long should I keep the mask before I rinse it off?

Can this mask be use with children too? how old the children should be to be safe to use this mask?

Love your website, it has great information.

    • Hi Alejandra,

Just rinse off when the clay is almost dry. If you have dry skin, add a tablespoon of virgin olive oil to the mix. This mask is safe for children as well. Please note I added this mixture to the bath water as well. It is very soothing as a paste and also as a spa experience for eczema patches.

Only stay 20 minutes in the bath with the clay mixture in and rinse off afterwards.

When using the body mask as a paste, you can experiment and use different thicknesses of clay paste to see what works faster.

      To Your Health,

      Stella
